Activity Example2

Greener production

The chart shows reductions in CO2 per LED array chip:
reduced by 40 percent from 2000.

LED array chips made by the EFB technology use LED materials only in their light emitting area and the number of chips yielded per wafer is more than five times that of Conventional LED array; thus, resource saving is achieved right there. This has drastically helped chip productivity. The chart at right plots the reduction in the amount of CO2, into which the energy necessary to produce one LED array chip is converted. After 2006, the year in which EFB technology was introduced, the amount of CO2 has been reduced 40 percent from in 2000.
Furthermore, the new LED printhead needs only a half of chips and one fifth of wires installed on the board of conventional printhead, and this enables to drastically improve printhead productivity and reduce energy use associated with their production.
We aggressively tackle the resource recycling and under the banner of "100 Percent Yield" and "Zero Material Waste," all employees at OKI Digital Imaging are working together to advance our improvement activities.
